  • On August 20, 2010, the Dallas Islamic Center and the Unity Church of Dallas organized 4th Ramadan Iftar Dinner. Program was held in Unity Church of Dallas and around 120 people attended this wonderful Iftar dinner. The Dinner started with Ezan (athan) by Mr. Bilal Sabit and continued with a video showing the historical and religious treasures of Türkiye. After the video clip Pastor Karen Epps talked about the Unity denomination and its activities. She also mentioned importance of friendship and dialogue between different faiths.

Then, Imam Nihat Yesil introduced the activities of  The Islamic Center and talked about the meaning of Ramadan and benefits of  fasting to the community. Imam Yesil said in his speech;  “Abrahamic faiths have many common aspects and few differences. Fasting establishes a continuity of practice with religions such as Judaism and Christianity,in which fasting is recognized as an important element. We believe that when there are hundreds of similarities among us, stressing our few differences should not be a priority. When their faithful promote dialogue and mutual understanding, Abrahamic religions will contribute positively to relations between communities and countries. The world today needs peace more than any other time in history. To avoid clashes among communities and to establish peace and harmony, the true believers should gather around common values while acknowledging the differences in their believes and practices.”
