On Friday, August 19, 2011, the Dallas Islamic Center and Lovers Lane United Methodist Church organized 6th Ramadan Iftar Dinner. Program was hosted by Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Around 250 people attended this wonderful Iftar dinner. Pastor Mai Le of Lovers Lane UMC welcomed everybody and made a short prayer. Then Mr. Hamidullah Qiyam from the Dallas Islamic Center performed Athan (call for prayer) and guests started to have dinner. After the dinner, Pastor Dr. Copeland of Lovers Lane UMC made a speech about the importance of these joint events and shared his thoughts on friendship and dialogue between different faiths. Then Imam Nihat Yesil introduced the activities of the Dallas Islamic Center and talked about the meaning of Ramadan and fasting. The program continued with a video showing the historical and religious treasures of Türkiye. After the video clip Pastor Karen Epps talked about the Unity denomination and its activities. At the end of the program members of these two organizations exchanged their contact information to continue these gatherings in family base as well.
