On Sunday, October 23, a quake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit Van province of Turkey. Around 600 people were killed and 3000 were injured in Van. We have received many calls and emails from the community expressing sympathy. We are very saddened by this disaster and extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May God comfort them at this difficult time. 

The Dallas Islamic Center sponsored the lunch for homeless people on April 25th, Sunday at Stewpot The Second Chance Cafe. The DIC volunteers served the meal and water to everyone who had come to the Stewpot for lunch. It was such a humbling experience for the DIC volunteers to get together with rich, poor, black, and white that they decided to participate again in such organizations in the future.

Helping program organized by Dallas Islamic Center Helping Hands for refugees from Burma ended on May 2, 2010. Cloth donations, home equipments, toys for kids and money donations were collected and packaged. Around 100 packages sent to the newly arrived families from Burma. DIC Helping Hands will continue to help the needy people through different programs.
