DIC hosted a youth group from First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls, TX. The group has been traveling to visit different sites of faith including a Catholic Church and a Jewish Synagogue. As part of their interfaith exposure, the group visited DIC and gained knowledge of Islamic faith and culture. The program started with a warm welcome from DIC and lunch was served. After the lunch, Mr. Kocabas from DIC presented on what DIC is, followed by a presentation about Islam.

Imam Nihat Yesil was invited to perform the invocation at the Dallas City Council meeting on August 18, 2010. In the invocation, Imam Yesil addressed to the council and prayed for the blessing of the country and its people.

DIC executives visited Senior Pastor Dr. Stan Copeland of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on May 11th, 2010. Imam Nihat Yesil shared information with Pastor Copeland about activities and programs organized by DIC and invited him to Abraham’s Table program to deliver a speech. Pastor Copeland and Imam Yesil agreed on planning a joint Ramadan Iftar (Dinner) for their members together as well. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Copeland and DIC members took a small tour inside the church.

DIC members visited Associate Proffessor Charles Bellinger in Theology and Ethics Brite Divinity School of Texas Christian University. DIC members introduced DIC and its activities and answered Prof. Bellinger ‘s questions. They also invited Prof. Bellinger to Abraham’s Table program to deliver a speech. At the meeting, Prof. Bellinger gave information about the Theology and Ethics Brite Divinity School at TCU to DIC members as well.

Chaplains from Baylor Health Care System paid a visit to The Dallas Islamic Center on Friday April 9th. Dr Sateo Soga was leading the group of chaplains. DIC Coordinators Mr. Kazan and Mr. Dikbas introduced our activities and gave a presentation about patient rights in Islam. Guests were served with refreshment and their questions were answered extensively. Chaplains appreciated the talk and the progam very much. They wished to keep in touch and seek consultation help whenever there is a need. We have plans to provide a similar seminar in the coming years.

DIC executives visited the Mayor of Richardson Mr. Gary Slagel at his office. They introduced the Dallas Islamic Center and its activities and programs. DIC members also invited Mr. Slagel to “Community Talk Series” program to deliver a speech.

DIC executives visited the dean of SMU’s Perkins School of Theology, Prof. William B. Lawrence at his office. They introduced DIC and its activities and answered Prof. Lawrence’s questions. DIC members also invited Prof. Lawrence to Abraham’s Table program to deliver a speech. At the meeting, Prof. Lawrence gave information about the Perkins School of Theology at SMU to DIC members as well.

The Dallas Islamic Center executives visited FBI Dallas Field Office and met with FBI Director as Special Agent in Charge Mr. Robert E Casey and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Mr. Kevin F. Kolbye. DIC executives introduced the Dallas Islamic Center and its events. DIC members also invited Mr. Robert Casey to “Community Talk Series” program to deliver a speech.

DIC executives visited Rev. Karen Epps of Unity Church of Dallas. DIC executives shared information with Rev. Epps about activities and programs organized by DIC and invited her to Abraham’s Table program to deliver a speech. Rev. Epps and DIC members also agreed on planning a joint Iftar (Dinner) in upcoming Ramadan month.

DIC executives visited Pastor Bill Waxenberg of Christ Lutheran Church. Imam Nihat Yesil shared information with Pastor Waxenberg about activities and programs organized by DIC and invited him to Abraham’s Table program to deliver aspeech. Pastor Waxenberg gave information about their church and its activities to DIC executives as well. Pastor Waxenberg and Imam Yesil also agreed on planning a joint Ramadan Iftar (Dinner) together.
