DIC executives visited Senior Pastor-Leadership Miller Cunningham of Park Cities Baptist Church. Imam Nihat Yesil shared information with Pastor Cunningham about activities and programs organized by DIC and invited him to Abraham’s Table program to deliver a speech. Pastor Cunningham and Imam Yesil also agreed on planning a joint Ramadan Iftar (Dinner) for their congregations together.

DIC executives visited Fire Department in Richardson. Mr. Hilmi Yildirim introduced the mission and the activities of DIC, Social Outreach Program in particular. Chief Alan Palomba and Assistant Chief Ed Hotz gave some information about fire department. Chief Palomba welcomed the invitation to participate at DIC Social Outreach Program as a speaker.

Two members of JBS International Incorporation visited Dallas Islamic Center for an interview with Imam Yesil. The interview is conducted within a research study that JBS International is currently undertaking for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to examine engagement and outreach efforts between government agencies and Muslim American communities across the U.S. JBS team asked questions about the interaction of Dallas Islamic Center with local community and government to figure out further ways to improve the communication.

Mr. Yesil, the president of DIC, introduced the mission and the activities of DIC, Social Outreach Program in particular. Both parties talked about the growing population of Muslim community in Richardson area and the importance of organizations, such as DIC to assist integration of the Muslims with their non-muslim neighbors. Chief Spivey stressed the significance of such gatherings in order to understand each other. Spivey welcomed the invitation to participate at DIC Social Outreach Program as a speaker in the very near future.

Congressman Sam Johnson visited Dallas Turquoise Center on August 25, Monday. Congressman Jonhson met Imam Nihat Yesil, President of Dallas Islamic Center(DIC). Imam Yesil mentioned to him the activities of DIC.

Dallas Islamic Center hosted a delegation of international visitors from Middle East studying Interfaith Dialogue. Imam Nihat Yesil gave a berief information about DIC’S activities and projects.The group visited DIC to learn more about the diversity of religions in the Metroplex, the various interfaith activities occurring in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the roles that different religious and ethnic groups and the DIC play in the local community.

Dallas Islamic Center representatives visited Rabbi Asher G. Knight from Temple Emanua-El Dallas. During the visit, Imam Nihat shared information about the activities of DIC and Rabbi Asher also mentioned about the activities carried out at Temple Emanu- El. Imam Yesil also pointed out the importance of the dialogue among the members of different faiths and added that as DIC, they would like to establish dialogue with all segments of the society. At the end of the visit, Imam Yesil invited Rabbi Asher to the momnth program of Abraham’s Table organized by Dallas Islamic Center.

Chaplains from Baylor Health Care System visited Dallas Islamic Center on April 24. DIC volunteers provided a powerpoint presentation about the sensitivities of muslim patients. General information on DIC and activities was also presented. After a Q&A session, chaplains expressed their gratitude and asked if DIC can provide volunteer services for their patients. Both sides acknowledged their commitment to advancing the relationship.

DIC president Nihat Yesil visited Jacob Atuahene-Nsowaah, DirectorPastoral Care&Education, at his office as a part of the OutreachProgram, one of the main activities that DIC possess. Mr. Yesil gave abrief introduction of DIC and its goals, and offered assistance of anykind to both the patients and the employees at the Methodist Hospital.Mr Atuahene stressed how he was pleased to have DIC and its executives.The director mentioned that he would add DIC as the first contact forthe Islamic matters at the hospital. Both parties agreed to strengthenfurther cooperation.
